The Atlanta Dream hosted the Seattle Storm Sunday evening at the Philips Arena and received a loss due to lack of effort. Sue Bird and rookie Breanna Stewart each scored 23 points to lead the Storm to a 91-82 victory over the Dream in a WNBA game Sunday.
The Storm (12-17) built an eight-point lead by halftime and pulled away with a 10-0 run in the middle of the third quarter to lead 61-41. Angel McCoughtry did all she could offensively as she gave the Dream 32 points but defense lacked the entire game from the whole team.
The Storm had their largest lead of 26 early in the fourth quarter. McCoughtry’s 3-pointer with 3:25 left capped a 19-4 run that cut Atlanta’s deficit to 82-71, but Bird’s 3-pointer made it 89-73 at 1:42 and the Storm held on.
The Dream received their 14th loss on on the season and are in 5th place in the Eastern Conference Standings at (14-14). Coach Michael Cooper who is very outspoken on his thoughts says in preparation for Tuesday’s game against the Phoenix Mercury “S*** It’s Showtime We Gotta Come Play”
