Shawty Lo Was Loved; Family, Friends & Fans Share Their Experience With Him

Family & friends say goodbye to the King of Bankhead

Family, friends, fans as well as the hip-hop community, gathered to say farewell to the late Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo at the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church where Bishop Dreyfus C. Smith, senior Pastor of Wings of Faith Worldwide Ministries, delivered a powerful eulogy in Atlanta on Saturday (Oct. 1).

The rapper, whose real name is Carlos Walker, was a founding member of D4L and is best known for his hit, “Dey Know.” The 40-year-old artist died in a car accident on Sept. 22 after he was ejected from his vehicle during the crash.

Tall Boy spoke exclusively to family, the hip hop community, and fans and asked them to share their best Shawty Lo experience.  The community left three words that best described Walker.
