It’s the end of another year; that time when we make wish lists and make changes to our lives. Have you ever wondered what’s on other people’s wish lists? Those in power, or have made significant contributions to the city’s history or are considered celebrities in the fabric of Atlanta’s core are no different than you or I.
Recently, Tall Boy posed a simple question to these same people, “What’s on Your Christmas wish list?” He came away with some very simple answers from the likes of Atlanta’s present Mayor Kasim Reed, TWD CEO Tommy Dortch, Jr., former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, TV-personality Lisa Rayam, Reverend & Mrs. Raphael Warnock, singer/producer Angie Stone, nail salon owner Sharlinda Parker, former NFL-player Stevie Baggs, Jr., financier Branningan Thompson, comedian J. Anthony Brown, reality TV stars Phaedra Parks of Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Married to Medicine’s Dr. Courtney & Genise Shelton.
Fulfilling these wishes either by you or through others usually reaps its own rewards. The central themes played over-and-over with their responses. Some wished for social changes in 2017 such as ending poverty, stopping backwards economics, fulfilling the dreams of our forefathers while uplifting the younger generation. Others had the pursuit for stopping the violence; promote courage, vision and giving back. Still, others expressed the need for more family involvement, good health and more jobs. Oh, and no Trump presidency.
As we do enter the next era of existence in the 21st century, it’s good to see that values still matter. Especially when society’s leaders, movers-and-shakers and the people in the limelight are still advocates of what needs to be as opposed to what it is. So, what’s on Your Christmas wish list?
