As all good things come to an end, it was a mixture of happiness and sadness as Atlanta’s 59th Mayor Kasim Reed passes the torch to newly elected Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms. It’s been a long 7-years that saw its share of ups-and-downs, but mostly the accomplishments that make his tenure extraordinary covers a wide gamut of community, political, economic and entertainment industry achievements. Although these were just some of the areas Kasim has uplifted, it was the overall consensus of Atlanta’s Who’s Who attending the 34th Annual Mayor’s Masked Ball that he did a good job – a job Kasim says he always wanted since he was 13-years old. Incredible is the word that comes to mind when you look at the transformation of Atlanta, that has been brought into the 21st century because of his leadership. However, as much as has been done, the new mayor has an equally long road to not only maintain the status quo, but also continue the progression groundwork that has been laid.
Mayor Kasim Reed, the city of Atlanta thanks you and wishes you well.
